Mr Coates

Since my article appeared in the CILIP Gazette I have had some contact with Tim Coates, author of the Good Library Guide blog and the infamous/controversial report of the state of the public library service in the UK, Who's in charge? Someone sent him a copy of that issue of the Gazette and he read my article and posted a response on his blog. If you're interested in this you can read it by going to the Good Library Guide blog and scrolling down quite a long way. However, you will only be able to do this if you know my name, and it also won't make much sense if you haven't read my orginal article! Don't worry, it's not that interesting. He does call my article a letter though, which is a bit off. I know it was short, but even so! I left a comment on his post, and he emailed me today. I am slightly scared of him - he can be quite cutting about the people he takes issue with, but so far we are allies in the fight for better promotion of libraries and their services. Not that I'm doing a lot about it, apart from writing miniature articles, but it's the thought that counts, right? Maybe not in all cases.

Aghh I just forgot how to spell miniature. It must be the heat. I'm using this as an excuse for a lot of things at the moment.
